Sending the right instructions to our muscles...

Posted by Ed LeBeau - Heartland Golf Schools on 18th Sep 2022

The golf swing is a physical action produced by our muscles. The muscles only activate when and how they are directed by our brain. We are well served to consider that anytime we hit it thin, fat, left, or right (or even straight), that swing is the result of our brain sending instructions to our muscles.

Golf is a game of sending the right instructions to our muscles. Its a mental game that has a physical response. Manuel de la Torreā€™s book, Understanding The Golf Swing addresses this critical issue by directing the golfer to put their attention on their intention of using the club correctly. Consciously visualizing the movement of the club initiates the proper action by the muscles. The golf swing is a physical action produced by our muscles.

Editorial Note: Based on this post, we invite you to read Chapter 13 of Understanding the Golf Swing: "Observation, Awareness, Feel and Visualization." Chapter 13 is available from this download link.
